After a bachelor in Interactive Media Design at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague; Netherlands, Moze specialized herself in Classical Animation in Vancouver; Canada. With a wide expertise within the artistic spectrum - varying in handdrawn animation, silkscreening, graphic design and painting - Moze values the freedom of moving in between roles, media and location, as she works as a freelancer in the creative industry since 2018.

Moze Mertens (1996) is an independent artist from The Netherlands. She studied Interactive Media Design at The Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, where her graduation project was granted an exhibition spot at The Bad Feminist expo in Melkweg Amsterdam.

In 2021 Moze moved to Vancouver to study Classical Animation at The Vancouver Film School, from which she graduated with honours. Her animated short ‘Alledoags’ was selected in 2022 for the Ottawa International Animation Festival for the student competition. After working at the film school in Vancouver, she went fully independent and works as freelancing animator, graphic designer, screen printer and painter and is based in The Netherlands again.

In her work, Moze creates stories that take you from our everyday life into a slumbering upside down version of reality. Moze uses mixed media to create her work; hand-drawn paper animated scenes, silk screening, painting or fully digital created works. As an artist she works on independent projects - either created and funded by herself or joined with and by other independent artists.
